Sources: Wizards guard Sheldon Mac to have Achilles tendon surgery

Washington Wizards guard Sheldon Mac will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon, league sources told The Vertical.

Mac is expected to miss at least six-to-eight months, sources said.

Mac, a second-year guard, averaged three points and 1.1 rebounds in 30 games for the Wizards last season. He was expected to make the Wizards’ regular-season roster and compete for rotational minutes.

Mac went unselected in the 2016 NBA draft out of Miami.
