South Ayrshire Council leader visits new £500k aparthotel and business hub in historic part of Ayr
A group of businessmen gearing up to open a £500,000 aparthotel and business hub venture in the centre of Ayr rolled out the red carpet to council officials.
South Ayrshire Council Leader Martin Dowey, along with fellow Councillor Martin Kilbride, visited the hub at 21 Wellington Square, as work on the project nears completion.
And both council officials were said to be bowled over by the transformation at the category B-listed property.

Spearheading the project is Ian Henderson, Rochdale FC’s all-time leading goalscorer, who says the hub will be open for business by the end of January, or early February.
Speaking exclusively to Ayrshire Live, striker Ian said: “The site visit with Martin Dowey and his colleague Martin Kilbride went exceptionally well. They were full of praise for the finish and believe it’s the finest office offering in Ayrshire.”
Once operational, 21 Wellington Square, will fall under 3 Sigma Ayr’s Hauss branding.
The company is already embarking on a similar project in Coatbridge, which involves the creation of a 12 bedroom Aparthotel.
For the one in Wellington Square, it will boast space for modern businesses on the ground floor, first floor and attic and have superfast broadband, secure video entry, and dedicated parking. And the basement will be the aparthotel/hotel offering a unique multi sensory experience for visitors to Ayr.
Ian added: “We’re aiming to complete the basement works and have the building fully operational by late January or early February.”
