SEJONG (Reuters) - The decline in South Korea's October factory output was due to the cancellation of Samsung Electronics' <005930.KS> fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 handset and repairs at steelmaking factories, a government statistics official told reporters on Wednesday. A rise in retail sales in October was attributed to base effects and a government-led discount sale event during the month, he added. (Reporting by Shin-hyung Lee; Editing by Eric Meijer)
