A South London flat could be snapped up at auction for as little as £160,000, but at that price it will not be surprise to hear there is a catch. Property website Rightmove reports that the average price of a home in London is now at £691,134, making this Bermondsey one-bed a staggering £530,000 less than the average across the capital.

Despite being so well-priced in comparison to other homes in the capital, the flat’s hardly accessible for everyone as the moment you’ve opened the front door and stepped inside you’re faced with a sharp descent - as you can see in the video below. So unless you’re willing to spend a lump of cash doing it up, those with mobility issues will struggle to live here.

The purpose built second-floor flat is being auctioned with a guide price of £160,000 to £165,000. It is Flat 22, Camber House, 1 Lovelinch Close, sits on the Winslade Estate is around half a mile from South Bermondsey station, and is served by Southeastern rail. New Cross Gate is also only 0.7 miles away, and is served by the London Overground, which can make commuting far easier.

There is a communal entrance to the block with stairs to second floor level. Inside the living room comes with storage space, there is a separate kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There is gas heating from fixed wall mounted radiators.

There are also 115 years left on the lease which began on December 1, 2014. If you want to make the pad yours, you start by making an account here with auctioneers Clive Emson.

Bidding ends at noon on October 30 and ends at around 3.05pm two days later on November 1. Senior Auction Appraiser Russell Hawkes said: “It is considered to be of particular interest for investors, buy-to-let landlords or maybe even owner-occupiers seeking a bolthole close to their workplace.” Auctioneer website Clive Emsom adds that the home “is considered to be of particular interest for investors or buy-to-let landlords, maybe even owner-occupiers.”
