South Park confirms special episode South ParQ - The Vaccination Special is premiering soon

After the success of South Park's recent coronavirus-themed special episode, the show is back for another one-off episode along the same lines.

The new hour-long special titled, South ParQ – The Vaccination Special, will address some of the major events that have been headlining the news recently.

The official blurb for the episode reads: "The citizens of South ParQ are clamouring for the COVID-19 vaccine. A hilarious new militant group tries to stop the boys from getting their teacher vaccinated."

It's safe to say Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, Stan's dad Randy and co will not just be sticking with a COVID-19 vaccine storyline, but will be delving into the depths of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

The "hilarious new militant group" will no doubt cause some controversy, but that's why we keep going back to the show.

South Park social media accounts have now been rebranded to South ParQ in honour of the new episode, which is due to premiere on March 10.

Talking of going back to the show, season 24 of the long-running series has been on hiatus since the pandemic forced production to close and there is no premiere date for it yet.

South Park airs on Comedy Central, Netflix and NOW TV in the UK.

School kidnappings are becoming endemic in the region. Last week at least 40 people, including 27 students, were abducted in the state of Niger, 300 miles to the south. They are yet to be released. "The Zamfara State Police Command in collaboration with the military have commenced a joint search and rescue operation with a view to rescuing the 317 students kidnapped by the armed bandits in Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe," police said in a statement. School officials say the gunmen invaded the town "in their hundreds" at around 2am Friday and "shot sporadically in the air to scare the residents". The attackers then stormed the school. "It is possible some of them managed to escape, but we are not sure," a teacher said. A man whose two daughters attend the school corroborated the incident. Sadi Kawaye said he had been told that the school was "invaded by bandits". Another parent said his daughters, aged 10 and 13, were among those missing.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended Covid-19 vaccine prioritisation should continue down the age ranges rather than by occupation, with people in their 40s invited for a vaccinenext once all the over-50s and most vulnerable have had their jabs. John Apter, chairman of the Police Federation, said: "There's real palpable anger from all levels within policing about how we have been completely disregarded and ignored in this phase. "My colleagues have been on the frontline since the first national lockdown last March, risking infection and even death to keep the public safe." A headteachers' union has said it is "disappointed" the JCVI had decided against prioritising education staff. Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said: "The Government needs to make a policy decision on this matter having insisted that education is a national priority and having announced a 'big bang' return to the classroom in England."
