South Shields pub has epic Christmas transformation ahead of 'magical' light switch on
It's certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas in South Shields, as a pub right beside the seaside has revealed the results of a magical festive makeover and plans for a big light switch on later this week
A place well known to both locals and visitors top South Tyneside, The New Sundial occupies a prominent position right by the beach in Shields, meaning it was packed to the rafters for events like the Summer Festival concerts in nearby Bents Park and the Great North Run, as both participants and their friends and family enjoyed some well earned post-race drinks.
And now, with plans to transform its interior as well, the outside of the bar is giving serious winter wonderland vibes, with two massive Nutcracker statues standing close to the roof, right next to a Ho Ho Ho sign and a stunning garland adorned with baubles.

Right next to the attention grabbing display there is a Santa's Grotto area, complete with a red and gold sleigh and the all important reindeer. On Sunday, a post on The New Sundial Facebook revealed that the bar could be closing at the much earlier time of 6pm, as 'elves were coming in' to make the inside of the venue 'extra festive.'
As well as having a transformation inside and out, which its customers are getting very excited about, The New Sundial is also gearing up for its grand Christmas light switch on. Taking place this Sunday, November 24, the switch on is set to be THE place to be in Shields this weekend, with a teaser for it reading: "All welcome young and old to The New Sundia'ls official light switch on. 24th November from 5pm. We can ensure this venue is going to be the most magical Christmas experience with full festive ambience.
"The elf’s are working round the clock to make this happen. Even the real Father Christmas will be making a special appearance. We have heard direct from the North Pole it may even snow!"
