A SOUTHAMPTON school has issued a warning to its staff after a man was seen taking photographs nearby.

Foundry Lane Primary School has urged its staff to be "vigilant" following a suspicious incident on Friday.

The school was alerted by a member of the public that a man was taking photos in Foundry Lane, Shirley.

The school's headteacher, Sean Taylor, told the Daily Echo: "As soon as the man was seen behaving suspiciously, senior members of staff immediately patrolled the perimeter of the school to ensure that the man had left the vicinity.

"The children were temporarily removed from the playground to ensure their safety."

The incident occurred on Friday, May 13, and the school has not seen anything suspicious since then.

At the end of April, police received reports of two men in a white van driving slowly beside a ten-year-old girl.

The incident left the youngster unharmed but distressed.

An investigation was launched and officers later ramped up patrols in the area.

Anyone with concerns should contact the police on 101 or via the Hampshire Constabulary website.
