The iconic Southend Pier is set to feature in a new episode of Eastenders this week.

Bosses at the attraction say viewers should tune into tomorrow's episode on BBC1 to see the pier and other parts of the city.

Camera crews were spotted filming at a number of locations last month, and even used staff at Adventure Island as staff.

Southend Pier said on Twitter: "Don't forget to tune in.

"Be sure to check out Eastenders tomorrow evening as some of the characters make a trip to a familiar city and a certain pier."

While filming was taking place in Southend in March, photos emerged of character Jean Slater, played by actress Gillian Wright, wearing a wedding dress and riding on one of the Adventure Island rollercoasters.

Stars Martin (James Bye) and Stacey (Lacey Turner) were also seen near the seafront, with scenes being shot near the Three Shells cafe and right by the water's edge.

Marc Miller, managing director of Adventure Island, was among those in Southend to welcome camera crews to the city last month.

He said: “It’s a pleasure to have EastEnders filming with us once again.

“All involved get a real buzz from being around the action.

“One or two of the team have even become extras on the show!”

Tomorrow's Eastenders episode will be broadcast on BB1 at 7.30pm.
