Everyone knows that Superman fights for truth, justice, and the American way – but what if baby Kal-El was found and brought up in another country?

The famous Mark Millar comic Superman: Red Son questions what would happen if Superman was raised by Soviet Union Russia, and now it could be made into a movie.

A Twitter exchange between Millar and Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts about the latter's beard (just roll with it) led him to admit to Millar that he pitched a big-screen adaptation to studio Warner Bros.

Obviously that hasn't happened, but Millar then revealed that Warner Bros is now going to various directors and pitching the idea of a Red Son movie to them.

"Did you hear WB pitching directors Red Son? Two diff pals in last 2 months. This truly is Putin's America," Millar tweeted.

"Wait, really?" Vogt-Roberts replied. "Because I pitched it to them months ago and was told no. It's the most punk rock thing the DCEU could do in my mind.

"I think it's necessary for the comic book movie as a whole to take a step beyond the shared universe by introducing one-off movies.

"I think we can sustain a 'main shared universe' AND offshoots with alternate takes on characters & different actors existing simultaneously."

Basically what Vogt-Roberts is proposing is similar to how Star Wars is currently alternating between the main 'Episodes' and spinoff anthology movies, but in separate continuities.

The DCEU has been open to experimentation lately, what with Wonder Woman introducing colour and happiness and fun to the universe.

Next up for the series is Justice League, which is being finished off by Joss Whedon after Zack Snyder stepped down due to a family tragedy.

The film will be out on November 17. Watch a trailer below:
