Spacewalking Astronauts Fit Cables On ISS

Astronauts have carried out their third spacewalk in a week to install cables that will enable new crew capsules to dock with the International Space Station.

The work involved nearly 250 metres of cable and lasted almost seven hours.

It completes a three-day job undertaken by Americans Terry Virts and Butch Wilmore.

During the latest spacewalk, Flight Engineer Virts again reported water in his helmet - but stressed it was "not a big deal".

"I couldn't feel it on my skin. I could just see the thin film on the visor," he told Mission Control.

The work needed to be carried out and so manned spacecraft being developed by Boeing and SpaceX can hook up to the station.

A pair of docking ports will be flown up later this year, with the capsules carrying astronauts scheduled to come into service in 2017.
