A dive team braved cold water to rescue a young duck tangled in a fishing line in Colorado, a local sheriff’s office said on December 6.Footage released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shows an officer using a net to try and rescue the duck out in Crown Hill Lake, near Denver.“Despite braving the chilly waters in waders and venturing chest-deep with a long net, the duck remained just out of reach,” the sheriff’s office said, regarding its animal control officer attempting to save the bird.“That’s when the amazing team from West Metro Fire Rescue stepped in. Their Dive Team suited up in dry suits and swam out to safely catch the duck, carefully cutting it free from the fishing line,” the office said.The juvenile male duck was stranded about 20 yards from the shoreline, the sheriff’s office said, and was found to have a lure embedded near its shoulder.They reminded locals to “properly dispose of fishing lines and hooks to help protect wildlife.” Credit: Jefferson County Sheriff via Storyful
