This may represent the third most important title European countries can win - after the World Cup and European Championship - but these two heavyweights will be desperate to add to their already glistening trophy cabinets.

France, the current world champions, take on Spain, a powerhouse hoping to rekindle their dominance a decade ago.

The French secured their spot in the showpiece courtesy of a late winner in a 3-2 thriller against Belgium. Spain also conquered a mighty advisory in the semi-final by ending Italy’s 18 match unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory. Both sides will therefore be confident of getting the job done.

The match will take place in Milan at the famous Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, more affectionately known as the San Siro.
