Special Devon Valentine's moonlight tour is perfect for animal lovers

A Devon animal sanctuary is offering a unique way to celebrate Valentine's Day this year - and it's perfect for those who want to make the special day memorable.

The Wildwood Trust's Devon centre, by Escot Park near Ottery St Mary, is providing a truly different romantic interlude for lovers with it's Valentine Night Tour on the evening of February.

It's around an hour in the car from Plymouth and will offer a night of enchantment. You can begin your night with a lovingly prepared two-course meal, accompanied by a glass of something to toast to your love over dinner.

So far, so good, but wait - there's a wonderful addition to this night. After dinner, instead of the trudge back to the car, home, the babysitter payment, you can instead embark on an exclusive guided night tour through the tranquil woodland at Wildwood's remarkable grounds.

As long as you wrap up against the cold you can experience the magic of the park after dark, encountering the park's nocturnal residents in a rare and unforgettable way.

That will include the European wolves who live in a pack within a large enclosure. The primarily nocturnal animals will be up and about and if you're fortunate you can hear their spine-tingling chorus of howls.

You may also encounter the park's Arctic foxes, European Lynx, Snowy Owl as well as the plethora of other creatures who are cared for at Wildwood.

The dining will take place between 6pm and 9pm and the night tour will run from 7pm to 9pm. The main course will be a delicious wood-fired pizza with a selection of toppings while deserts include warm chocolate brownie with ice cream or baked New York vanilla cheesecake with a strawberry compote.

Drinks wise, you can choose between a glass of red wine, rose, Birra Moretti, or for those driving, there's a the alcohol-free sparkling Elderflower Presse.

Visitors are urged to arrive at least 10 minutes early to settle in and enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz and the cosy ambiance before the adventure begins.
