Spice Girls close reunion tour as Geri apologises

Geri Horner has apologised for quitting the Spice Girls as the group took to the stage for the final night of their long-awaited reunion tour.

"I need to say something I should have said a long time ago," she said to the 70,000 fans in London's Wembley Stadium.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left. I was just being a brat. It is so good to be back with the girls that I love."

Horner left the group in 1998 - just two years before the group split.

Sporty, Ginger, Baby, and Scary Spice performed their hits including Wannabe, their 1996 debut single, and Spice Up Your Life.

The band ended their run by bringing their children and mothers on stage with them, with Geri, best known as Ginger Spice, joking that they are the three generations of Spice Girls.

There was also an impromptu rendition of Adele's Someone Like You, after the band revealed that the Grammy award-winning singer was somewhere in the crowd.

Adele's last Wembley show in 2017 was cancelled on doctors' advice after she damaged her vocal cords.

Both Horner and Emma Bunton, or Baby Spice, shared photos on Instagram with the singer before the sell-out show.

Adele posted videos and photos of her night with the band to Instagram, saying: "Oiii last time I saw the Spice Girls at Wembley was 21 years ago.

"Tonight with my nearest and dearest I cried, laughed, screamed, danced, reminisced and fell back in love with my 10 year old self.

"It's no secret how much I love them, how much they inspired me to run for my life and never look back.

"I finally got to meet Ginger, I got drunk with the girls and quite frankly I can't believe how far I've come.

"Thank you for the madness I get to live, I couldn't have got here without you 5 BRITISH legends."

After the show, Horner shared an emotional message on her Instagram page, where she thanked the cast and crew of the tour.

She said: "So we're done. It's done.

"Thirteen stadiums, almost 700,000 people with three amazing women I've shared that stage with.

"I want to say thank you to Melanie, Melanie and Emma and everybody who showed up for us. It has been something that I will never ever forget. Thank you so much. Big love from the Spice World."

The group began their tour in May in Dublin, and went on to perform in Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol.

The show on Saturday night, as with the rest of the tour, did not include original Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, or Posh Spice, although speculation was rife with rumours that she may have surprised fans at the group's final London performance.

Earlier in the day, Mel C, or Sporty Spice, posted a photo of the group in their early days, with a message to Mrs Beckham, telling her she was missed.

Mel B, better known as Scary Spice, said after the gig that the Wembley shows were one of the most important moments of her life.

She also announced that the group would be heading Down Under to take the tour to Australia later in the year.
