Spice Girls fans praise band for defying 'torrential rain' to give 'incredible' performance in Bristol
The Spice Girls were praised by fans for putting on “an amazing show” in Bristol despite the “horrendous” rain.
Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown wore clear rain ponchos over their costumes to perform at the Ashton Gate stadium last night, but didn’t let the downpour dampen their spirits.
The band ensured that they kept warm during the gig by drinking cups of tea on stage, using special Union Jack china in a nod to Horner’s infamous BRIT Awards dress.
Bunton, aka Baby Spice, shared an Instagram photo of herself with soaking wet hair after the show, describing herself as "Drenched Spice."
"#bristol you were AMAZING !!!" she wrote, adding "#thankyou #babyspice #drenchedspice."
Despite the adverse conditions, audience members couldn’t get enough of the girl group’s “incredible” performance.
“Torrential rain but the girls still gave us an amazing show,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“The @spicegirls most definitely put on a show last night at @ashtongatestad despite the horrendous weather,” another agreed. “I danced and sang the night away, it took me right back to the 90s era, amazing!”

“We danced and sang out hearts out in the pouring rain but it was all worth it!!!” a third wrote, while another said that the rain “didn’t stop anyone,” describing the performance as “just AMAZING.”
The band’s tour concludes with three consecutive nights at London’s Wembley Stadium later this month.
Brown, aka Scary Spice, hit out at a radio station earlier this month for suggesting that the group have been miming during the tour.
The singer asked BBC Newcastle to “correct” claims made by presenter Anna Foster, who said that “there might have been a bit of miming here and there” during the band’s Sunderland gig.
“@bbcnewcastle FYI we don’t mime pls correct yourself!!” she wrote on Twitter. “You guys are nice.”
In response to Brown’s tweet, Foster said: “I did say I thought Mel was fantastic. I thought the gig was incredible, I was just very, very honest about one particular performance.”
