Spicier scenes of Harvest drama series yet to come

Johannesburg - Melodrama fans may have started watching the gripping new e.tv drama series Harvest, but they haven’t seen anything yet.

The real drama, with a capital D, is still to come.

I was one of the privileged few to dine with the cast and creators of Harvest at the up-market Radisson Blue Hotel in Sandton on Thursday night, where I got a glimpse of some of the show’s still-to-come highlights.

The star-studded series focuses on the trials and tribulations of three women who fight for recognition amid the high stakes of the illegal business world.

The show takes the premise of strong women in a “man’s world” and a cut-throat illegal business sector.

Who better, then, to play such roles than Safta winner Masasa Mbangeni, talented actress Vatiswa Ndara and the lovely Khanya Mkangisa.

Mbangeni plays Celia, the leader of the business; Ndara plays Clementine, a business partner and frenemy to Celia; while Mkangisa takes on the role of Tshepiso, a young and naive trophy wife who knows nothing about the illegal business dealings.

We caught up with Mbangeni, who was looking dashing in a metallic gold dress.

She said it was exciting to play a different role from what she is used to. Many know her from e.tv’s soapie, Scandal, as Tembeka, a manipulative woman who allows nothing to stand in her way.

The gorgeous Mkangisa was also there looking stunning in a simple, off-shoulder black number.

And so were the Harvest men: Muzi Mthabela, Mutodi Neshehe, Simphiwe Mini and Nat Ramabulana.
