Not only is there the possibility of the multiverse being introduced, the sequel is the first to take place after the five-year time jump in Avengers: Endgame. This means that aside from Peter Parker's classmates who we know were Snapped (such as Ned), we could see newer versions of characters from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
One new theory from Reddit user LordAyeris suggests that one person we could see return is Cindy, played in Homecoming (and briefly in Avengers: Infinity War) by Tiffany Espensen and assumed by fans to be Cindy Moon.
Comic fans will know just why that name is significant.
"I think Cindy Moon survived Thanos' initial snap. In the five years between Infinity War and Endgame, she was bitten by a radioactive spider and took up the mantle of Silk," the theory argues.
In the comics, Cindy Moon is a superhero known as Silk who got bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter his powers.
The character was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, and although she's relatively new (having made her debut in 2014), she has become a firm fan favourite. Her powers are essentially the same as Peter's, although she has an improved Spider-Sense (Silk-Sense, naturally) and is a bit faster, but isn't quite as strong.
Before we get all excited, it's likely that the appearance of Cindy in Homecoming was little more than an Easter egg for the fans – Tiffany Espensen isn't currently reported to be in Far From Home.
However, in June 2018 there were reports that Sony were developing a Silk solo movie, with Homecoming producer Amy Pascal on board.
If Cindy is now five years older, she might well have been recast, but there don't appear to be any names on the confirmed cast who could fit the role. That doesn't entirely rule out a Cindy/Silk appearance as they might be keeping it secret, especially if a major star is playing the role.
The thing that gives us most pause for thought about a Silk appearance in Far From Home is the question of whether Sony would even want to introduce her now.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man reportedly has one more MCU movie left in Marvel and Sony's co-production deal and we don't know what happens after. Would Sony want to introduce another potential key character in an MCU movie, instead of in their own Marvel universe, which currently contains Venom and Morbius?
We feel that if Silk is going to make her on-screen debut, it'll be in a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. Given that Sony and Marvel made Spidey work, we can't entirely rule out Silk appearing in Far From Home.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is released on July 2.
