Spiders Make Themselves at Home in Rural Queensland Phone Booth

An electrician in rural Queensland, Australia, discovered who is still using pay phones in this day and age as he filmed a group of large spiders ensconced in a structure in Mount Whitestone.

Electrician Joshua James Smith was working at a primary school in Mount Whitestone when he stumbled across the booth containing a cluster of golden orb-weavers who’d been hard at work making webs.

Speaking to Storyful, Smith said he wasn’t phased by the arachnids “as they are pretty common in Australia and aren’t too dangerous.”

Smith said he filmed the spiders as the phone box was in relatively good condition and the phone and light were still operational. Credit: Joshua James Smith via Storyful
