WHO spokesperson urges people 'change or delay' gatherings which are not safe this Christmas

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged people to cancel their holiday plans to stop the spread of the Omicron variant.Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the WHO, said “difficult decisions” would need to be made to prevent transmission of the new strain across borders.In the short term, Dr Ghebreyesus said that holiday festivities would in many places lead to "increased cases, overwhelmed health systems and more deaths" and urged people to postpone gatherings.
