DI Harry Clayton is about to get more than he bargains for in Lucky Man's third series, as Spooks star Rupert Penry-Jones is coming to the show to cause a little chaos.

When Stan Lee's unlikely superhero series returns for its third chapter, Harry (James Nesbitt) is in Hong Kong looking for answers about his 'lucky' charm, and he comes up against some nasty underworld characters who have their eyes on more than just his bracelet.

One such unsavoury character comes in the form of Harry's greatest nemesis Samuel Blake, played by Penry-Jones.

Blake is described as a master manipulator who's fiercely intelligent, handsome and has contacts on both sides of the law to help him in his lifelong mission to acquire the lucky bracelets for his own nefarious use.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Lucky Man for an exciting third series," Penry-Jones said. "The conniving Samuel Blake is a great character to play, who offers all the action, destruction and rivalry you can expect from a classic Stan Lee villain!"

Looks like Harry and Eve (Sienna Guillory) better watch out then.

And while Harry may be a detective and superhero who can control his own luck, star James Nesbitt hints that his luck may be about to run out.

"Stan Lee's Lucky Man is such an exciting series to make and the scripts for this season are brilliant," he said.

"Harry Clayton's luck is running out, which throws up some interesting storylines. And also takes him, and me, to Hong Kong – the perfect setting for Stan Lee mayhem!"

Based on an idea from comic book writer Lee and POW! Entertainment, and made by Carnival Films, the series premiered in 2015 and quickly proved to be Sky 1's most successful original drama, with an average audience of 1.9 million per episode.

Nesbitt, Penry-Jones and Guillory will be joined this series by returnee Amara Karan, who plays DS Suri Chohan, as well as other guest stars Omid Djalili, Nick Moran and Neve McIntosh.

Stan Lee's Lucky Man airs on Sky 1.
