The BBC’s charity sporting extravaganza is back, with the usual host of celebrities and sports stars joining forces to help raise money.

As ever there’ll be a big televised appeal to generate funds. Here’s everything you need to know about Sport Relief 2018.

What’s it about?

Each year the broadcaster holds a telethon which is the highlight of a few weeks of sports-based fundraising activities.

The show usually lasts for several hours and features special versions of some of the BBC’s flagship programmes including Strictly Come Dancing.

There will also be several celebrity sporting challenges including boxing matches between the likes of Helen Skelton and Camilla Thurlow, a rowing competition between ITV and the BBC and Robbie Savage’s all-star football marathon.

Viewers can look forward to a special performance from Kylie Minogue and music from Snow Patrol.

There will also be reminders of the good work the charity does for disadvantaged children and regular updates as to the amount of money raised.

Who is hosting?

Gary Lineker, Davina McCall and Ore Oduba will be kicking off proceedings at the BBC Salford with Claudia Winkleman and Paddy McGuinness taking over.

How can you get involved?

Aside from tuning into the telethon and donating, you can show your support for Sport Relief by organising a charity sporting event (see here for more information) or by wearing some of the charity’s official merchandise.

When is it on?

The show kicks off on Friday, March 23 at 7pm on BBC One, with a switch over to BBC Two for a celebrity special A Question of Sport, before resuming on the original channel at 10.35pm.
