Spring Snow Blankets California's Sierra Nevada Mountains
A spring snowstorm covered California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range in white, creating treacherous travel conditions on Monday, May 9, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab said 4.1 inches (10.5 cm) of snow fell over a 24-hour period from Sunday to Monday. Video from outside the lab shows heavy snow falling on Sunday.
According to the lab, late-season snow was expected in the coming week. “We’re expecting more snow over the next few days … and we couldn’t be happier about it,” they said. Credit: UC Berkeley CSSL via Storyful
