St Johnstone have parted company with manager Craig Levein just five matches into the new Scottish Premiership campaign.

The former Scotland boss (59) took up the position in November last year and staved off the threat of relegation.

The Perth currently side sit 10th in the league table, with one win and four defeats in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.

Coaches Andy Kirk and Alex Cleland will jointly take over the reins ahead of Saturday’s game against Ross County.

Levein’s departure was announced by the McDiarmid Park club on Tuesday afternoon this week.

In a brief statement, a St Johnstone spokesperson said: “The board of directors can announce that St Johnstone Football Club has today parted company with manager Craig Levein.

“Andy Kirk and Alex Cleland will take charge of the team ahead of Saturday’s game against Ross County.
