A St Mirren player already banned from driving has admitted to getting behind the wheel on two occasions – two days apart.

Jaden Brown appeared in the dock this afternoon at Paisley Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to three driving offences.

The 25-year-old admitted driving a car on July 11 in Glasgow’s Springfield Quay while already being banned from getting behind the wheel.

Just two days later, Brown, of Station House Drive in Johnstone, got behind the wheel of a car again and drove as a disqualified driver in Renfrew’s Abbotsinch Road.

Brown also accepted that he drove on July 11 without any insurance. He initially appeared without instructing a lawyer but took the opportunity to listen to legal advice.

Defence agent Eamon McGeehan represented Brown who joined Saints on loan in January from Lincoln City and signed a two-year permanent deal in the summer.

The court heard Brown’s original driving ban was imposed after he had been convicted of drink-driving. Mr McGeehan stated reports would be necessary in this case and reserved mitigation.

Sheriff Lindsay Kooner stated: “Given your previous convictions for contraventions of the Road Traffic Act I’ll defer for reports.”

Sentence was deferred for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment until November 29. Bail was continued meantime and he was banned from driving ad-interim.

Brown faced a further four driving offence charges including an allegation he drove a sporty Mercedes-Benz E class on October 4 in Johnstone’s Napier Street also without an insurance policy.

A further charge alleged that, when cops stopped Brown on October 4, in order to “evade detection, arrest and prosecution” he stated his name was [St Mirren team-mate] Dennis Adeniran.

His not guilty pleas to these charges were accepted by the Crown.

Capped by England to Under-19s level, Brown began his career at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur but left for Huddersfield Town without making a senior appearance.

Brown made 31 appearances at Huddersfield before joining Sheffield Wednesday in 2021. He was part of the Owls team that secured promotion to the Sky Bet Championship and he moved on following the expiry of his contract. He joined Lincoln before arriving in Paisley earlier this year.
