Stacey Solomon crying 'happy tears' as she breaks silence after birth of newborn son with Joe Swash

Stacey Solomon has broken her silence after welcoming her newborn son to thank fans for their support - and joked she can’t wait to return to Loose Women when she can “walk properly.”

Solomon, 29, gave birth to her first child with Joe Swash on Thursday morning, hours before she was due to celebrate a baby shower on the ITV show.

The TV presenter was forced to watch from home with her new baby, but treated viewers to a new picture of her son breastfeeding as well as a statement which read: “I was so looking forward to my baby shower today. Gutted I can’t be there, but me and baby are watching from home which feels even more special now. Thanks so much I love you all.

“The first place I’m going when I can put some normal pants on and walk properly is to the Loose Women studios.”

Her co-stars played video messages from Holly Willoughy, Susanna Reid, Olly Murs, and Piers Morgan among others, something which left her in tears.

She tweeted: “No matter how how intense these after birth pains are I’m smiling from ear to ear watching my family at @loosewomen celebrate my baby shower without me. Me and baby are so grateful to have you all in our lives we love you. I’m crying happy tears.”

Stacey’s sister Jemma, who joined the Loose Women panel via phone, described the birth as “beautiful” and joked the as-of-yet unnamed tot “flew out” after a short labour.

“She’s so good,” she said of her sibling. “She did amazing. It was such a lovely birth. I was privileged to be a part of it. I feel like he flew out of her.

“There were tears of joy. It was so lovely. Absolutely beautiful.”

She said Stacey’s sons Zachary and Leighton were “so excited” to meet their baby brother who is Swash’s second child after son Harry, who he shares with his ex.

Swash announced the news of the birth on Thursday night with a touching tribute to the 'love of his life' who he deemed a “super human” who will 'forever leave him in awe'.

He revealed their child's gender on Friday after posting a black and white snap of himself kissing his son's feet alongside the caption: “Good morning sonxxxxx.”

Loose Women is on ITV, weekdays at 12:30pm
