Staff Give Flamingo Chick a Mini-Workout at Denver Zoo

Staff at Denver Zoo are putting a Chilean flamingo chick through his paces as he grows, with his “little workouts” taking him “all over the Avian Propagation Center.”

According to the zoo, the Chilean flamingo chick, born on October 21, is being hand-reared indoors because of the harsh weather.

The chick had trouble hatching itself, and staff had to intervene. They then used a stuffed toy flamingo to act as a “little parent” while the chick was in an incubator.

Then, the chick weighed just 0.2 lbs. He now weighs a full pound, and, as this video shows, is highly mobile. Credit: Denver Zoo via Storyful
