Hard-working staff at a Shotts care home have been thanked by a Newmains family for the care they gave a beloved mother and grandmother in her final months.

Colleagues at Rosehall Care Home in the town were nominated by our weekly Say it with Flowers competition by Catherine Allen and Yvonne Brodie for their loving care towards Catherine’s mum Sadie Allen who moved into Rosehall in December last year.

Yvonne said: “She went into Rosehall in December last year and we honestly didn’t think that she would see Christmas.

“She had been in hospital and although she was coming out she was still very poorly.

“However, you could tell even in the first 24 hours she was already improving.

“All the staff were so good with her; they were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to help my gran.”

When Yvonne got in touch with us to tell us all about the work the Rosehall staff, we presented them with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Sadie died last month at the age of 82 with her family by her side.

Yvonne added: “My gran passed away on November 1.

“The staff made sure that we were all there and were there to make her as comfortable as possible. She was pain-free and the staff gave us lots of time with her before she passed away.

“Gran was very family-orientated and always had time for her kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren.

“She also worked very hard. She owned the drapers and wool shop in Harthill so everyone in that community knew her.

“She went above and beyond for her family and was always there for everyone.”
