Stagecoach update after heavy rain hits Merseyside
Two bus services in one part of Merseyside are expected to be diverted tomorrow after heavy rain hit the region. Stagecoach confirmed its 723 and 725 bus services will be diverted on Thursday, October 17 due to flooding on Valley Road and Hancocks Swing Bridge in Aintree.
Earlier today the ECHO shared pictures and video as the River Alt appeared to burst its banks and cause water to flood onto Valley Road. It has been reported that Valley Road Eastbound from B5194 Aintree Lane to M57 J6 in Kirkby has been closed due to the flooding.
Now, Stagecoach confirmed two of its services will be affected tomorrow. In a series of posts on X, Stagecoach said: "Important information regarding our 723 and 725 morning/afternoon journeys. Due to today's weather causing some flooding we've taken the decision to divert these services. We've sent an info pack to schools affected, which should be sent to all parents shortly.

"Our 723 morning journey for @MaghullHighsch will be diverted. This is due to flooding along Valley Road and Hancocks Swing Bridge in #Aintree. The 723 will begin at Elmham Crescent, operating in the opposite direction from it's normal route.
"The afternoon 723 may also be diverted. This is subject weather improvements and the carriageway on route clearing. We'll establish if we can return to normal route prior to any buses departing the depot so parents and students can be informed in good time."
