A Surrey branch of the Asian-inspired restaurant brand itsu is set to close this weekend. The Two Rivers Shopping Centre in Staines has announced the upcoming closure of its restaurant.

In a post on Facebook yesterday (October 18), a spokesperson for Two Rivers said: "Sadly, itsu will be closing at Two Rivers as of Saturday evening (October 19). Keep your eyes peeled on our social media for some very exciting coming soon news!"

The healthy fast food chain opened its doors at the centre in October 2022. And ever since, shoppers and cinema-goers have been able to tuck into a range of hot and cold dishes to takeaway, dine-in or enjoy in the comfort of their own homes with delivery.

When it opened, itsu in Staines created 37 new jobs, and it joined two other branches in Surrey: in Woking and Guildford. It is not yet known what will replace the Two Rivers' branch.

Following the closure announcement, many have shared their disappointment. One customer said: "That's a shame. Kids always liked to pop in. Momo's has gone, now itsu... where do we get some semi-decent sushi? I do wonder."

Another added: "That's a shame. Loved it there; nice and healthy," while a third said: "What! Love an itsu. Please don't bring in another unhealthy food place."
