Stamford Hill murder: Four arrested over DJ stabbed to death at house party in London

Police have arrested three men and a 16-year-old boy after a young DJ was knifed to death a house party in north London.

Elyon Poku, 20, was stabbed after a fight broke out at a flat in Stamford Hill in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 17-year-old boy was also knifed and a 24-year-old man suffered a head injury after violence erupted at the party at about 12.50am.

All three were taken to hospital, where Mr Poku, known as Nana Banger, was pronounced dead at 4.30am. The two other victims were not suffering from life-threatening injuries, police said.

Manchester United footballer Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who was friends with Mr Poku, paid tribute to him online after learning of his death.

”Rip my bro Nana, you are at a better place now,” he wrote on Twitter.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and two men, aged 28 and 29, on suspicion of murder. An 18-year-old man has been held on suspicion of affray.

All four remain in custody in separate London police stations as detectives investigate the killing.

Scotland Yard said it was looking to speak to more than 200 potential witnesses who were at the party.

Detective chief inspector Andrew Packer, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have been working hard this weekend to find out what happened at the party and the events that led to Elyon’s murder in the early hours of Saturday.

“We have arrested four men, but we still need the public’s help.

“We believe there were more than 200 young people at the party which began on Friday evening and we need to speak to everyone who was there.

“Even if you didn’t witness the assaults, you may have some information that can help us determine how Elyon tragically lost his life.

“I can understand that some people may want to remain anonymous, so I would urge them to make contact with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to share what they know.”

Detectives said they were "keeping an open mind" about what sparked the fight.

Mr Poku, who was from Stamford Hill, was the first of two young men killed in north London on Saturday.

A 19-year-old was shot dead in Walthamstow just after 11pm. He was driven to hospital by friends but was pronounced dead half an hour later.

No one has been arrested over the shooting.
