The festive family-friendly version of Deadpool 2 – titled Once Upon a Deadpool – has snuck in a lovely tribute to the late great father of comic books, Stan Lee.

The Marvel Comics legend passed away last month at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy like no other. He frequently graced Marvel Cinematic Universe movies with a cameo and now it's been revealed that he appears in the charity-inspired Once Upon a Deadpool.

Via Complex, Stan has been awarded a special segment dedicated to his memory once the credits have rolled. Although his face appears in the movie several times, the icon does also feature at the end in a comedic yet emotional capacity.

There's one bit where he reacts to Deadpool's costume, questioning why it isn't coloured green, plus interview footage of him offering thoughts on his legacy.

"I don't think about it that much, you know? When I'm gone, I really don't care," he muses, which is followed by an image of Stan's signature with 1923 - 2018 underneath.

Animated comic book blockbuster Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse also has an "emotional" cameo from Stan, according to the movie's producers.

Deadpool 2's original cut is available on digital download, DVD and Blu-ray, while Once Upon a Deadpool is in UK and US cinemas now.
