Stanley Tucci and his family had some unexpected reactions while trying a mystery Italian citrus fruit.

In an Instagram video shared on Sunday, the Devil Wears Prada actor, 63, cut up slices of the thick-rinded yellow fruit for his parents, Stanley Sr. and Joan Tucci.

“It’s good,” Stanley said after trying the first piece, noting that it tasted like a lemon “but not as sour,” while hilariously scrunching his eyebrows in response.

The host of the food and travel show Searching for Italy tapped into his knowledge of regional cuisines to identify the fruit as he offered a slice to his parents.

“I think it’s a bread lemon,” the author of What I Ate In One Year (and related thoughts) said. "These come from the island of Procida — they make a salad out of it.”

His family, however, seemed skeptical about the fruit — especially its thick, spongy rind, known as pith.

“You’re supposed to eat the whole thing, the white part?” his father asked.

After giving it a taste, the actor’s father didn’t seem anxious to go back for more. “I’m not gonna go out of the way for it,” Stanley Sr. said.

His mother Joan — whose family comes from the same town in southern Italy as her husband — had a similar reaction.

“Did you pay for that?” she joked.

“Maybe it needs a dressing…or maybe it’s just mold?” the Lovely Bones star quipped back.

The Spotlight actor reached out to fans for help identifying the fruit. “Bread lemon or not?... I’m sure one of you can identify this 🍋…” he wrote beneath the Instagram post, adding, "Joan and Stan were not impressed."

While there was some disagreement, most of the commenters seemed to think that the fruit seen in the video was actually citron — an ancient citrus fruit that the modern-day lemon is derived from.

“It's a citron, try it with salt or sugar, you don't know what you're missing!!!!” one user commented.

This isn’t the first time that Stanley’s parents have shown up on his Instagram page. Stanley Sr. appeared in a video celebrating World Martini Day with his son on June 15, and Joan recently starred in a clip of her eating branzino — a European sea bass — prepared by Stanley’s wife Felicity Blunt
