Stantec: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Stantec Inc. (STN) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $30.7 million.

The Edmonton, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 27 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 32 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The engineering firm posted revenue of $1.05 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $703.5 million, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $705.2 million.

Stantec shares have dropped slightly more than 7 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased slightly more than 5 percent in the last 12 months.
