Star Trek: Discovery: How to watch in the US and UK

Star Trek is back on screens.

Specifically which screens and how they can be accessed, however, is an entirely different matter. CBS has debuted Star Trek: Discovery in a rather unusual manner in the US; one that's bound to frustrate more than a few fans.

CBS aired its premiere on the company's regular broadcast network; immediately afterward, the second episode became available exclusively on CBS All Access - the company's $6 per month streaming service.

The third episode will then air 1 October exclusively on All Access, as will the rest of the episodes throughout the show's first season.

A move justified by the network in the fact Star Trek Discovery's budget is far more reminiscent of a premium cable or streaming show, versus a broadcast show; a gamble CBS is praying will pay off in style.

In the UK (and internationally), however, things are far simpler as the show's found a home on Netflix; the first episode is already available, with future episodes released weekly, less than 24 hours after the episodes are shown in the US.

The 15-episode season will be broken into two parts: the first eight episodes will air weekly on Mondays from 25 September until Monday 6 November. The second half of the season will then resume in January 2018.
