It feels that we've gone an unreasonably long time without Disney coming clean about the official title to its Han Solo-starring Star Wars spin-off.

Well, director Ron Howard posted a video revealing that production is finished on his movie... and what the totally unsurprising name of the film will be.

That's right – Solo: A Star Wars Story it is.

The title follows the convention set by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and pretty much ends any speculation on what future spin-offs and prequels will be called.

Alden Ehrenreich is taking on Harrison Ford's iconic role, with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor Beckett. Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Paul Bettany and Joonas Suotamo will also feature in the movie.

Howard came on board in June after the original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were removed halfway through filming.

No other spin-offs have been announced so far, although Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi are considered favourites to receive the treatment next.

Solo: A Star Wars is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.
