EA's Blake Jorgensen has confirmed our suspicions that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is going to be way, way bigger and better than its predecessor.

Appearing at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Tuesday (February 28), Jorgensen admitted that the next Star Wars title will be "dramatically larger" (via GameSpot).

The sequel is set to feature "a lot of new characters", who fans are speculating will hail from the more recent movies in the Star Wars franchise. Think Rogue One - and maybe even The Last Jedi.

Suggesting that there's a lot more to come from the gaming side of Star Wars in the future, Jorgensen said: "The Star Wars universe is just unbelievable to build games in because it's so vast."

The as-yet untitled Battlefront sequel is also said to have rectified a complaint about the original game by introducing a single-player campaign, which will be produced by Motive Studios.

Admittedly, Battlefront details are a little thin on the ground at the moment, but we reckon it's only a matter of time before that all-important trailer drops.

In other Star Wars-related news, rumour has it that shooting for Episode IX will kick off this summer - at least that's what a recent casting call suggests.

The page seemingly confirms that the third and final instalment of the new trilogy - which will be directed by Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow - will start shooting in July 2017, a mere five months away. Exciting stuff!
