Maths was not everyone's favourite subject in school, but this new viral clip makes us wish we'd paid more attention in class.
One YouTuber has figured out a way to play the iconic Cantina Band theme – also known as 'Mad About Me' for all you nerds out there – from Star Wars: A New Hope… with just pencil on paper.
In the clip, Dani Ochoa scribbles down an equation, but if you listen carefully, the rhythm of her pencil strokes exactly matches the rhythm of the theme.
Absolute perfection. Who knew that Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes (the Cantina Band's less sexy name) mixed with a maths equation could provide so much joy?
But it gets even better, as according to one Reddit user, the equation actually cracks the key to hyperspace!
(We cannot confirm this as we are not all maths geniuses, but it sounds pretty damn amazing).
Ochoa has also uploaded a similar video that plays on the Imperial March theme... so now we are just are waiting for John Williams' entire score to be done.
"I would very much like to complete that," he said of doing his ninth Star Wars movie. "I don't think you can retire from writing. I feel very lucky, and the work that I do doesn't depend on much.
"If your vision's still good, and your hands – I have no arthritis in my hands and I play the piano very easily – I don't think there's any reason to deprive oneself of the fun of working. Music is so rewarding."
It is indeed – we mean, if you can even get music out of a pencil, it truly is something special.
