Star Wars launched John Boyega's career into the stratosphere and made him one of the most recognisable faces in the world - but it's also taken a toll on his love life.
"I went on a date in New York City and as we were driving through Times Square and she asked, 'What do you do for a living?' he remembered.
"I just pointed up at the Star Wars billboard that showed me with a lightsaber and said, 'That!' That was the end of the relationship – the poster really affected her… I blocked her on my phone."
John can probably blame those lady troubles on his decision not to follow the advice of his fellow Graham Norton Show guest Orlando Bloom, who knows a thing or two about dating in the public eye.
"[Orlando] told me to try and secure the love of my life before all the fame stuff starts," John admitted.
In conclusion, definitely follow Orlando Bloom's dating advice. Take a more sceptical approach to his guidance about naked paddle boarding.
John Boyega was appearing on Graham Norton's chat show on Friday to promote his title role in Old Vic Theatre's brand new adaptation of the early 20th century German play Woyzeck.
The Graham Norton Show continues next Friday night (May 5) at 10.35pm on BBC One with special guests Diane Keaton, Jessica Chastain, Kevin Bacon, Michael Fassbender and music from Gorillaz.
