Can't get enough of star-bound heroes and explosive action? Well, Star Wars Resistance will premiere this October on channel Disney XD.

Following its US debut on October 7, the show will be rolled out internationally on Disney channels, starting with the special one-hour opening episode titled 'The Recruit'.

The new animated series takes place before the events of The Force Awakens, following Kazuda Xiono ("Kaz"), a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the First Order.

Resistance welcomes back several recognisable figures including Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, who will also be joined by Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma.

Christopher Sean voices Kaz, whilst Eastenders' Suzie McGrath, Scrubs' Donald Faison, Scott Lawrence of Legion and Josh Brener from Sillicon Valley provide additional performances.

Aside from animated projects, LucasFilm also has its cinematic features to attend to, with a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi movie firmly jammed in the rumour mill.

Ewan McGregor played the ponytailed jedi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and has recently given his opinion on possibly retaining the role: "There's no plans as such to do it, as far as I know. I've been asked this question for years and years and I'd be happy to do it.

"There must be a good story to tell as they're doing spin-offs – there's likely to be a good Obi-Wan [story] between maybe me and Alec Guinness in that time."
