Star Wars TV Show May Be In The Works

It looks as though ‘Star Wars’ could be heading to TV.

Appearing at the Television Critics Association’s press tour, ABC boss Channing Dungey revealed that there are ‘conversations’ happening about an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ TV show…

“As a fan, I would absolutely love to say yes,” she said (via Entertainment Weekly). “The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.”

But apparently, nothing is certain just yet.

And after the live panel, she confirmed that talks are ongoing.

“It’s all a little bit hush-hush,” said Dungey. “That company exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel’s secretive, [Lucasfilm] takes it to a whole other level … [Talks] are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet.”

Unfortunately, Dungey wouldn’t confirm whether or not ABC’s ‘Star Wars’ TV show would be live action or animated… But considering the network’s output, a live-action ‘Star Wars’ show would make a rather nice fit.

But what could a ‘Star Wars’ TV show involve?

It’s no secret that a live-action ‘Star Wars’ show has been in the work before. Tentatively titled ‘Star Wars Underworld’, the now-defunct TV show would have been set in-between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope’.

And as the title suggests, it would have been set in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant.

But will this project finally make it to the screen?

At the moment, that remains unclear. After all, ABC might be more interested in creating their own, brand new ‘Star Wars’ series. And with the entire galaxy far, far away at their disposal, this could result in some pretty incredible new storylines.

But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
