A former Starbucks worker turned fitness instructor has shared exactly what drinks to order to stay fit and healthy.

Most of us love a caffeinated beverage to start our days or boost our energy levels, and often stop off at one of our nearest coffee houses. With Starbucks chains popping up on most high streets or food delivery apps, it can be hard to resist. And as we have entered autumn, fans of Starbucks are rushing to get their hands on seasonal offerings - from pumpkin-spiced coffees to apple crisp macchiatos.

Maddie Milton, who worked in a Starbucks chain for four years, was tempted every day by the coffee house's latest offerings - but she managed to enjoy a healthy amount. The Pilates instructor, who is passionate about fitness, often shares her health tips online.

Maddie said: "As someone who cares about health and fitness, I love making my take on a brown sugar shaken espresso." Instead of adding sugar syrup to the popular drink, she used a packet of brown sugar. She explained: "Because it [brown sugar syrup] had some additives I didn't want."

If she wasn't in the mood for coffee, she would drink black tea and add a dash of milk into it. She also suggests, rather than sugar or syrup, adding honey or agave is "so good". She added: "Agave was my favourite kind of sweetener to use. I didn't drink many of the syrups, but the pumpkin [syrup] was just something I couldn't say no to."

If she was feeling dehydrated on shift, she would put a packet of sea salt into a large cup of water, packed with ice, and "chug it". Maddie added: "I love all of our unsweetened iced teas. My go to milk was almond milk, because it had the least additives and least sugar and I've always loved the cold brew - this is my favourite thing to get whenever I go back now."
