Stargirl season 2 has cast Bob's Burgers star Jim Gaffigan as Justice Society of America superhero Thunderbolt.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor will voice the CGI character, who is described as "a magical, electrical, fun-loving, wish-granting pink imp from the mysterious land of Bahdnesia".
Although Thunderbolt is extremely powerful, his official description reads: "The wishes he grants often cause more trouble than the wish-asker would ever expect.
"But despite his somewhat constant supernatural disasters, the Thunderbolt's heart is always in the right place, even if it is wounded by the friends he has lost throughout his long existence."
In addition to voicing Henry Haber in the adult animation Bob's Burgers, Gaffigan is best-known for his stand-up comedy. He also co-created and starred in The Jim Gaffigan Show, a TV series based on his life.
DC's Stargirl has already been renewed for a second season by The CW, although this time it will only air on the network and not streaming service DC Universe as well.
Produced by Arrowverse showrunners Geoff Johns – who created Stargirl back in the 1990s – and Greg Berlanti, the series follows high school student Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), who takes over from Justice Society of America member Starman following his death.
Stargirl season 1 is available to watch on DC Universe and The CW in the US. A UK broadcaster has yet to be announced.
