We have our first official image of Stargirl season 2 baddie Eclipso.

Portrayed by Arrow's Captain Boomerang star Nick Tarabay, this guy looks like something straight out of the Doctor Who universe.

Eclipso, who'll emerge from the shard of diamond previously discovered by Cindy in season 1's finale, is an ancient creep who sadistically feeds off the darker side of humanity.

Back in October, Stargirl creator and executive producer Geoff Johns described this Big Bad as "terrifying".

"I've always loved the character," he added. "He's a very different antagonist or villain than the [Injustice Society]. We're just starting to cast him, and I've got these wonderful designs on what he's gonna look like. It's such a different, darker, scarier threat."

Season 2 of the superhero show is edging towards a summer premiere, and in addition to newcomer Tarabay, other cast members include The Affair's Jonathan Cake as The Shade and The Flash actor John Wesley Shipp in a guest spot as Golden Age speedster Jay Garrick.

Brec Bassinger's Courtney Whitmore certainly has her hands full this time around.

Stargirl season 1 is available to watch on DC Universe and The CW in the US.
