The picture at the top of the article was shared with Gloucestershire by Sandra Jeans, who lives with husband Tony on the southside of the A40 opposite the Dowdeswell Reservoir. She has told us of her experience of the flash-flooding.
She said: "There is a low point on the A40 which gathers extensive surface water, and is passable if people observe the advice given by various organizations, such as the Fire & Rescue Service. Good drivers slow down, put on hazard warning lights to alert others coming from both directions, and drive through slowly.
"Drivers travelling too fast create hazards for other road users, cause damage to fences and retaining walls, and often shed bits of their vehicles, notably wheel trims. We cleared the debris from highway verges, our property entrance and the road once the flooding had cleared."
