Starlink: The reason why line of white lights could be seen over Cambs last night
Starlink satellites were spotted in the skies over Cambridgeshire on Friday night (October 18). The line of white lights were seen over Midsummer Common in Cambridge.
Starlink is a constellation of satellites run by SpaceX, the American aerospace company owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk. The satellites are intended to boost internet connectivity for Starlink customers.
A website called Find Starlink allows people to find out when they might be able to see the lights over their area. There will be average visibility of Starlink in the skies over Cambridgeshire in the early mornings and evenings of Saturday and Sunday (October 19 and 20).

SpaceX was founded in 2002, with the company aiming to one day have as many as 42,000 Starlink satellites. As of July 2023, there were around 4,500 in orbit, with 4,490 in operation.
