The award-winning star, 41, said she was “feeling butterflies” prior to the lesson in which she delivered an empowering lecture on Women, Peace and Security to a class of pupils taking the postgraduate course.

Despite her nerves, Professor Jolie seemed to take the academia world by storm, with starstruck students taking to Twitter to share their appraisals of the actress’s address about her experience as a United Nations Special Envoy.

Student Tazeen Dhanani tweeted Ms Jolie did “wonderfully” while fellow attendee Alana Foster described it as an “incredible lecture.”

Tazeen added: “She’ll make an amazing visiting professor. So honoured to hear her inaugural lecture at LSE on sexual violence, rape, working with refugees.”

Other students on campus couldn’t quite get over the fact that Hollywood royalty had arrived on their patch, as one person commented: “Angelina Jolie on campus. I’m finally seeing the advantages of going to LSE jk (sic).”

Prof Christine Chinkin, director of the Centre for Women, Peace and Security, said: “I am delighted that LSE postgraduate students have had the unique opportunity to learn directly from the valuable insights, perspectives and experiences that Angelina Jolie, UN special envoy and visiting professor in practice, brought to the class.”

Before the session, Angelina – who is known for her passionate humanitarian work – told the Evening Standard she was “feeling butterflies” as “this is very important to me”.

It sounds like you had nothing to worry about, Ang!
