Stash of weapons found in Keighley park after 'armed youths' spotted

A large number of weapons were found hidden in a West Yorkshire park by police officers.

The baseball bats, golf clubs and tools were found on Sunday morning during a search of Devonshire Park, Keighley. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the items were found following reports of youths carrying weapons and hiding them.

Police said: "On the morning of Sunday, February 2, 2025, officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a proactive search of Devonshire Park following community information that youths were carrying weapons on an evening and secreting them within the park.

"During the search, a large quantity of baseball bats, golf clubs, and tools were located concealed within some bushes.

"As it was believed that these items were not going to be used for their intended purpose, and no golf balls or baseballs were located, the items were seized and are due to be destroyed."
