State of Emergency Declared as Colorado Residents Flee Windblown Wildfires

A state of emergency was declared by Colorado Gov Jared Polis after winds that gusted up to 110 mph blew across Boulder County, exacerbating wildfires that threatened lives and property and led to the sudden evacuation of thousands of residents.

Local officials ordered the evacuation of Louisville and Superior, both located southeast of Boulder, amid what the National Weather Service described as “life threatening” conditions.
