State pensioners born before 1958 urged to make one phone call within next 48 hours
State pensioners have been issued a 48-hour deadline if they have not received the Winter Fuel Payment. If you were born before 23 September 1958 you could get either £200 or £300 to help you pay your heating bills for winter 2024 to 2025.
This is known as a 'Winter Fuel Payment'. You may be eligible if you or your partner get certain benefits. Most people get the Winter Fuel Payment automatically if they’re eligible. If you still haven't received your Winter Fuel Payment by January 29, and you believe you're eligible, then you'll be able to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre from this date.
To get a Winter Fuel Payment this year, you must have been born before September 23, 1958 and claiming one of the following benefits between September 16 and September 22, 2024: Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit, Universal Credit.

You’ll get the Winter Fuel Payment automatically when your claim for Pension Credit is approved. If you’ve applied for Pension Credit but have not received a decision yet, you do not need to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre about your eligibility.
Call the Winter Fuel Payment Centre if you’re not sure if you’re eligible. You cannot make a claim by phone. The Winter Fuel Payment Centre can be contacted via telephone on 0800 731 0160 or via textphone by contacting Relay UK on 18001 then 0800 731 0160. If you are a British or Irish national living in Ireland, you do not need to have moved by 31 December 2020, but you will need to meet all of the other eligibility rules.
