Steak restaurant where meat is served on lava rocks opens first Greater Manchester venue
The owners behind two top steak restaurants in Lancashire have opened their first venue in Greater Manchester.
First opening its Rawtenstall restaurant and cocktail bar ten years ago, The Firepit has quickly garnered a reputation for its selection of dishes including steaks, burgers, hanging kebabs, pan-seared fish, salads and vegetarian options.
Its steaks are served in unique fashion via a 350-degree lava rock which allows the meat to be cooked at the table until it is done to how the customer likes. Reviews online have described it as being ‘jaw-droppingly fantastic’.

Following the success of its flagship Rawtenstall spot, as well as a second location in Blackburn, The Firepit has now opened in Bury - based within The Rock Shopping Centre.
Situated in the former Frankie & Benny’s site, the restaurant and ‘top shelf’ specialist cocktail bar promises a ‘unique eating experience’ alongside bottomless brunches, a lunch menu featuring two courses for £19.95 and a date night special comprising three courses for £29.95.
The Firepit was born in 2014 and its other locations also regularly host live music and evening entertainment. Founder Peter Novak has previously spoken about how he wanted the restaurant’s copcent to represent how fire pits have been at the centre of social circles ‘since the age of mankind’.
Peter said of the new venue: “Opening a restaurant in Bury town centre has been an ambition of ours for a number of years and we are so excited to now be making that a reality.
“The Firepit is a firm favourite amongst many diners in Rawtenstall and Blackburn where we already have two restaurants, and we are looking forward to bringing that same dining experience to the people of Bury.”
The restaurant, which has created 30 jobs, is now open and its varied cocktail menu includes the likes of a kiwi and watermelon ginito and a cotton candy margarita featuring tequila, orange liqueur and cream soda.
Arnold Wilcox-Wood, Centre Director at The Rock, added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming The Firepit to our exciting tenant mix. We know the group’s other restaurants in the region are very popular and we are sure that The Firepit will be a huge hit with our visitors.”
The Firepit is on The Rock, Bury, BL9 0JX.
